UK Visa from Saudi Arabia:
ETA & Standard Visitor Guide

Travelling from Saudi Arabia to the United Kingdom is now much simpler for Saudi nationals than it used to be. Saudi citizens generally use the UK Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) for short visits, while many expats in Saudi Arabia still need a Standard Visitor Visa based on passport nationality.

Saudi Nationals: UK ETA

The UK ETA is a digital permission linked to your passport. It allows travel to the UK for tourism, family visits, short business activities and other permitted visitor purposes. GOV.UK lists the ETA fee at GBP 20 from 8 April 2026. It is valid for 2 years or until the passport expires, whichever comes first.

How to Apply for the ETA

• Use the official UK ETA app or GOV.UK website.
• Scan your passport and submit a digital photo.
• Answer eligibility and security questions.
• Pay the fee and wait for the digital decision.

If you renew your passport, you must apply for a new ETA because the authorisation is linked to the passport used in the application.

What You Can Do on an ETA

• Tourism and sightseeing.
• Visiting family or friends.
• Permitted business meetings and conferences.
• Short study up to 6 months, if permitted under visitor rules.

You cannot use an ETA for paid work, long-term study or settlement.

Expats in Saudi Arabia: Standard Visitor Visa

If you hold an Iqama but not a Saudi or other ETA-eligible passport, your UK route depends on your nationality. Many Indian, Pakistani, Filipino, Egyptian and other residents need a Standard Visitor Visa. GOV.UK lists the 6-month Standard Visitor Visa fee at GBP 135 from 8 April 2026.

Documents for a Standard Visitor Visa

• Valid passport.
• Saudi Iqama copy.
• Online UK visa application form.
• Bank statements for 3 to 6 months.
• Employment letter from Saudi employer.
• Accommodation details or host invitation.
• Return travel plan.
• Evidence that you will leave the UK at the end of the visit.

UK visa applicants usually attend a visa application centre after applying online. Appointment availability changes, especially during Eid and summer travel seasons, so apply early. Standard Visitor decisions are usually targeted within 3 weeks after biometrics, unless priority services or additional checks apply.

Other UK Visa Types

For work, long-term study, family settlement or stays over 6 months, a different UK visa may be needed. Do not use an ETA or Standard Visitor Visa for purposes outside visitor rules.
