The Embassy of Japan in Saudi Arabia states that all nationals who reside in Saudi Arabia can apply online for a tourist visa for single-entry stays up to 90 days. Other categories, including multiple-entry applications, may require embassy or consulate submission.

Diplomatic / Official Passport Note

From January 2, 2026, Japan and Saudi Arabia implemented a visa exemption for Saudi diplomatic and official special passport holders for short-term stays. This does not cover ordinary Saudi passports.

Required Documents

  1. Valid passport and copy.
  2. Completed Japan visa application form or eVISA online application.
  3. Saudi Iqama and exit/re-entry copy for non-Saudi residents where applicable.
  4. Round-trip flight reservation in English.
  5. Accommodation booking for the full stay.
  6. Detailed travel itinerary.
  7. Employment and salary certificate.
  8. Last 3 months bank statements from a Saudi bank.
  9. Recent passport-size photograph meeting Japan requirements.

Fees & Processing

Japan visa fees are updated each Japanese fiscal year. For the Embassy in Riyadh fee table effective April 1, 2026, many non-Indian nationals are listed at SAR 75 cash for single-entry visa at the Embassy or JPY 3,000 for online eVISA payment. Indian-national fee categories differ.

Japan Embassy guidance states visa review results are generally from the fifth business day following application, but missing documents or review conditions can extend timing. Apply early during peak travel seasons.
