Japan Visa from Saudi Arabia:
Tourist & Business Guide

How Saudi nationals and Saudi residents can apply through Japan eVISA or the Embassy/Consulate route.

Japan has become one of the most popular destinations for Saudi travellers. Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka, Mount Fuji, cherry blossoms and Japanese food culture make the trip unforgettable, but the visa file needs careful preparation.

Do Saudi Nationals Need a Visa?

Yes. Saudi ordinary passport holders need a Japan visa for tourism and business visits. Diplomatic and official passport holders have a separate visa-exemption arrangement from January 2, 2026, but this does not apply to ordinary tourist passports.

The Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs lists Saudi Arabia among countries/regions where the Japan eVISA system is available. Always apply through the official eVISA portal, not lookalike websites.

Documents Required

  • Valid passport with blank pages.
  • Japan visa application form or online eVISA application.
  • Recent 45 x 45 mm photo.
  • Round-trip flight reservation.
  • Accommodation bookings for the full trip.
  • Detailed day-by-day itinerary.
  • Employment and salary certificate.
  • Bank statements for the last 3 months or more.
  • Iqama and exit/re-entry copy for non-Saudi residents where applicable.

Why the Itinerary Matters

Japan visa files are detail-sensitive. Hotel dates should match flight dates. The itinerary should match city stays. Names, passport numbers and dates should be identical across every document. Small inconsistencies can delay processing.

Processing and Fees

Japan visa processing is often around 5 working days after a complete submission, but timing can vary by route, season and file complexity. Fees are updated by Japanese fiscal year, which begins on April 1. The Embassy of Japan in Riyadh publishes annual fee tables.

Tips for a Strong File

  • Use refundable bookings until the visa is issued.
  • Prepare a realistic day-by-day itinerary.
  • Show stable income and consistent bank activity.
  • Do not add random extra documents unless requested.
  • Apply early before cherry blossom season, Golden Week and Saudi holidays.
